Today's Discussion is on Glimmer's First Ever Gym Membership! When I started at the job I had now, I found out my company building had a free gym employees could use. EMPLOYEES. I was a lowly contractor at the time. I was promoted to a full-time position after six months or so, but the past Glimmer had no idea that was going to happen, so she signed up for a gym membership in a nearby shopping center. It was a chain gym (mistake number one), but the gym was small enough that it felt homey and more personalized. The gym had only a few people who worked there, and on occasion you would enter and no one else would be there, workers or other people working out. It was a 24-hour gym too, so I could come any time I wanted. Here's the thing about gym memberships...THEY SUCK. Did you see that one coming? Now I'm not going to sit here on my bed and type fast and angrily about my gym and how much it sucked, because, to be honest, it really wasn't all that bad. What D...
Today's Discussion is on..National  Something Or Other  Day! Part 2 - National Vegetarian Day (and also the start of October...Happy Start to Inktober!) That was a long introduction...apologies for that. But, how excited are we? It's October! So, now it really is fall! Because my birthday is in September and I love the summer, I always count September as still being summer, which was hard to do when I was in grade school as school always started back up in my month. MY month. Anyways, let's talk about vegetarianism and then more about October's Inktober. So, if you didn't know by my previous posts, twitch streams, tweets, etc., yours truly has been a vegetarian for...about seven months now. If you are like every other person in my life, you'd ask the five W's - where, what, when, why and how? My dad just skipped all those and just kept offering me meat every chance he could get (I have to remind him EVERY time I eat with him or around him that, yes...
glimmer's 3-Day Video Game Review! Little Dragons Cafe Promised you on my latest stream that I would write this - so here it is! I picked up Little Dragons Cafe on the day it came out from my local game store. I pre-ordered a copy of the limited edition that ran around $80.00. It came with a stuffed animal dragon about the size of my hands put together, some art cards, reversible box art, a CD, and the game (check out my unboxing video here ). I won't go into if I think the special edition of the game I purchased was worth it, as I can always go into that in a separate post if I so choose to, but I will say that it was a pricey number for a game that not many people knew about. I still wonder who the target audience for the game is. Who picked up the limited edition (besides myself, of course)? Right off the bat, you will notice the game's art style. It's really a big part of what it has going for it. The art makes me feel like the story is coming out of ...
Something You Don't Know About glimmer Part 5 - She gets migraines! I'll start this post off by thanking my dad for his wonderful genetics - giving me the world's worst headaches. If you don't know what a migraine is...Google it (nah, I kid! I can tell you better than that stinky thing we call the Internet)! A migraine is, as I implied, a really bad headache that is different in severity for everyone who may get one. Everyone who has migraines, however, shares a few common traits - they may have a specific trigger that causes it, there are different, but highly effective cures for each patient, and each person has their own unique symptoms right before the disaster strikes. I'll go over my steps: 1. I get migraines mostly when I'm super stressed and have a lot on my mind. I mostly got them in school and when I was searching for an important job while working full-time somewhere else. 2. I see spots. Have you ever closed your eyes after staring at a l...
Today's Discussion is on..National Something Or Other Day! Part 1 - National Toasted Marshmallow Day So, I have a calendar in my room that my ex's mother gave to me for a birthday or Christmas and it tells me what the National day is today! I absolutely love it, even though it does bring up some mixed feelings to type about it right now to the public...Anyways! I will probably post many days for us to discuss. This day in particular made me think of my old days in Girl Scouts, camping and of course, the main topic, roasted outdoor treats. I went from loving S'mores, to disliking them, to loving them again, then to eating only the roasted marshmallow out of them. What do I prefer today? I'm not really sure! It has probably been a good 5+ years since I had a S'more. I will tell you all the stories of my past and the times I remember those sugary good nights. A long time ago, your girl glimmer was in Girl Scouts. Honestly, I was a pretty good follower and...
Today's Discussion is on...My Favorite and Least Favorite Pokemon! Part 3 - Least Favorite Pokemon I made the picture extra large this time! It's a Venti Coffee at Starbucks! A Big Mac at McDonald's! A...okay, I'm done. Disregard the "Your favorite Pokemon of each type" text at the top of this image. These Pokemon on this image are my least favorite Pokemon! So, without further ado, let me mentally prepare the list and let's continue! I'm including all three in my least favorite Pokemon of all time - Uxie, Mesprit and Azelf. I just had to Google their names (and had a lot of trouble doing so) because I know nothing about these Pokemon. All I remember is seeing them in Pokemon Pearl and being like "ew." They are ugly, look like clones of mew but with a Snow White's dwarf feel to them (Sleepy, Grumpy, etc.), and their designs are just boring. I don't care what type they are or if they are even good Pokemon. You go from havin...
Today's Discussion is on My Favorite and Least Favorite Days of the Week Okay, this one is probably the staple choice for most people, but my favorite is Saturday and my least favorite is Wednesday. You can move on to another post now! Or, you can stick around to read a brief lecture about the days of the week in correlation to how glimmer spends her time. Everyone always says Mondays are their least favorite (insert Garfield joke here), which is totally understandable as it is the day most of us full-timers go back to work after our always too short weekend. What I don't like about Mondays is they act like Sundays on occasion when they fall on a holiday where we get out of work (more about my dislike for Sundays coming up). To me, however, they are the start to a new week, and usually the first day back to work is busy enough that I don't get too caught up in it. I tend to stream more on Mondays, so I get excited to coming back from work to do something I love. ...
g1immer's 3-Day Video Game Review! Shenmue 1 Re-Release Hi everyone! If you follow me on twitch, you may be aware that I picked up a physical copy of Shenmue 1+2 for the Playstation 4 on its release date (this Tuesday, 8/21/18). I will go over my experience with the game, pros and cons, memories it brings up, etc! I hope this won't be too scatter-brained, but let's dive right in! First off, this was a re-release, NOT a re-master or a re-make. The difference, to put it simply, is that a re-master has increased graphics and that is it. A re-make would be everything looks way more shiny and new. A re-release is basically just the game and all its bugs and quirks, slapped on the new system. Graphics may still look like they are from the 2000's, but that era always gives me the heart flutters (you are talking to a girl who loved her Nintendo GameCube so go figure)! The box came with a poster with the cover art and the image on the back of it, with some girl an...
Something You Don't Know About glimmer Part 4 - She loves to tan! As summer is coming to a close, I'd like to tell everyone that I am a tan-skin fanatic. Call me shallow, pretentious, fashion-crazy or whatever you'd like - I think that tan skin is simply beautiful! I've been told that a lot of girls want what they don't have (for example, I want curly hair instead of straight), but what is great about tan skin is that it is temporary (remember my love for temporary tattoos? Ha ha). I've been to the tanning salon and outside to tan, so I will tell you about my experiences with both the fake and real sun. The best tan for me personally comes from the tanning salon. I have one located close to me which is nice, because after I get a tan I feel super sticky and all I want to do is drive home as fast as I can to lay naked on my bed surrounded by towels. Before you even think it - NO, I do NOT use the tanning bed. I have a history of skin cancer in my famil...
Something You Don't Know About glimmer Part 3 - She always has a lot on her plate! I mean this figuratively and literally! When I go out to eat at a buffet, it is quite dangerous. I usually stock up on pizza and mac n' cheese, leaving out the fruit or veggies that should be most of my plate. But, we aren't here to talk about my poor eating habits. We are here to talk about how I always have so much going on in my life! If you have been following my blog, you may have read a post about me getting a therapist (read it here ). There, of course, were multiple reasons for me getting someone to talk to outside of my normal circle, but the main reason was to deal with my stress. I am a very stressed out girl because I tend to work on multiple projects at once! Even when I am working on one project, I am constantly thinking about how I need to do another! Here's an example of what is on my plate right now as of today: My Video Game Research (I've recorded all...
Today's Discussion is on..Nose Bleeds! Don't worry - I have no pictures to post! Time for a typical glimmer rant! I took my evening shower as I always do (I'm on a nice schedule: wake up > go to work > eat breakfast > work some more > eat lunch > work some more > go home > work out > eat dinner > stream/write/play games > have a little snack > shower > sleep). Suddenly, out of the blue (more like out of my nose har har), my nose started bleeding! If you've had nose bleeds before, you can always tell right before you get one - you smell blood, you may even taste it and you just know. The worst part about nose bleeds is that three seconds you take figuring out which nostril it is - even though it should be easy it's a 50% chance you will plug your right one. In the shower, it is way worse to figure it out because your sense of smell is off with the steam and the water gets on your hands...it's just a mess (or no it's ...
Today's Discussion is on...My Favorite and Least Favorite Pokemon! Part 2 - Favorite Pokemon Cont. Continuing on from our last Pokemon discussion (yes, there will be multiple I'm sure as Pokemon is one of my favorite series of all time)! I am listing off my favorite Pokemon, so if you didn't read my last post about Pokemon (Part 1), please go read it here ! We are getting down to the wire here on Pokemon. The rest of them are still very high up in my eyes, but not the ones I have stuffed animals of like with the last eight. Here we go! Number nine goes to Gyarados. He's one of my favorites (ignore what I just said above apparently) and one of my first shinies (ha ha, he's everyone's first shiny thanks to Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal)! I also loved the anime episode where Gyarados is a total badass and evolves after being kicked by James on that raft - then he whips up a storm with his buddies and causes total havoc! Any art I see of him always lo...
glimmer's Vegetarian Lifestyle Change Rule 1 - If you or someone close to you eats meat...you have to make up for it I will pay for it in blood! Nah, just kidding. If you all didn't know this about me, I have been a vegetarian now for about 7-8 weeks. It's honestly been so easy that I haven't been keeping track of the time! Many of you may think that being a vegetarian is impossible, but I would argue that, sure being a vegan sounds impossible, but not a vegetarian! A vegetarian can still eat cheese, eggs, and milk, some of my favorite things in life. I have tried to cut down on these too to be a bit more on the vegan "scale", but it is very difficult for almost everything I eat is cheese. I've also tried to cut out bread - just for my health - another impossible feat. So, you may be wondering: glimmer what do you actually eat ? Here's an example of my every day meals: Breakfast - Two boiled eggs with salt and pepper. Side of mixed fruit...
Today's Discussion is on...My Favorite and Least Favorite Pokemon! Part 1 - Favorite Pokemon As a disclosure, my "least favorite" Pokemon, that I may totally bash on for their looks, use, moveset, etc. are just because of my history with that Pokemon. If your favorite makes the list - I'm sorry! This is just an opinion of mine. I also, personally believe that, as there are some flawed designs for Pokemon out there, no one generation should be looked at in a bad light. As a creator myself, I understand that coming with brand new ideas isn't always easy and some ideas may be generally loved (example: Mimikyu) and some may be generally hated (example: Garbador). As the saying goes - "you win some, you lose some.' Here we go! Let's start with the positives! Be sure to check out my twitter page for a bigger look at the image above. If you are interested in taking the quiz yourself, I will link it in this text right here! First off, the two ...
Somethng You Don't Know About glimmer Part 2 - She has Two Cats Named Jasmine and Belle! I can't look at this picture and not smile. My heart fills up to the brim when looking at my sweet girls! Okay, this picture above isn't the best picture I have (and trust me, as a cat lady I have PLENTY), but it is the most recent one on my phone gallery. On the left is Belle, my family calls her Boo Boo, and on the right is Jasmine. We adopted them when they were only 6 months old on a windy day in August, 9 years ago. I thought, as it just became August, what better time to introduce them to you all! This post may also turn into a "GET A CAT (or pet)" rant, but I do think that holding a fuzzy, living, breathing creature can help you deal with your emotions. Taking care of something helps you grow as a person. Looking into their hungry (always hungry) eyes makes you feel wanted, needed. It is a great feeling to be with a cat, my cats, and no amount of typing can...
Today's Discussion is on Therapists I had my first ever therapist visit. Let's go over it together! Looking for a therapist is as stressful as applying for a job. I had to call my insurance, double check my plan, search on different websites, read their bios, check their location to make sure it isn't too far away from work or home, call them, get an appointment, figure out my co-pay, figure out my deductibles, fill out their forms, print out their forms and...ugh! But, I did it! Here we are. Luckily my insurance pulled a rabbit out of their hat and I only had a co-pay of $5.00. That's much cheaper than my sister or dad's therapists. As I have said before, my sisters and dad see a therapist. This was my first ever visit to a therapist, so I was quite nervous. Throughout the week I kept plotting in my head what could go horribly wrong. Would I just abruptly leave? What if the chair was not comfy? What if I started crying? Luckily none of those questions en...
