Today's Discussion is on...My Favorite and Least Favorite Pokemon!
Part 3 - Least Favorite Pokemon
I made the picture extra large this time! It's a Venti Coffee at Starbucks! A Big Mac at McDonald's! A...okay, I'm done. Disregard the "Your favorite Pokemon of each type" text at the top of this image. These Pokemon on this image are my least favorite Pokemon! So, without further ado, let me mentally prepare the list and let's continue!
I'm including all three in my least favorite Pokemon of all time - Uxie, Mesprit and Azelf. I just had to Google their names (and had a lot of trouble doing so) because I know nothing about these Pokemon. All I remember is seeing them in Pokemon Pearl and being like "ew." They are ugly, look like clones of mew but with a Snow White's dwarf feel to them (Sleepy, Grumpy, etc.), and their designs are just boring. I don't care what type they are or if they are even good Pokemon. You go from having three legendary dogs in generation two, to three legendary rocks (not as cool, but still the locations they were found at were neat) to three sad little imps that don't look intimidating at all. Pretty sure in generation three I just skipped these lumps of coal.
Keep in mind the types don't really influence my opinion on my dislike for these Pokemon, its all about looks for me (for the most part). Also, remember, if one of your favorite Pokemon made this list, I apologize, but this is simply my opinion. A lot of these Pokemon may be great in competitive battles! They may also have cool moves and abilities. Their shiny color may also be super cool. I'm just not a fan of their design. As I always say (as a designer myself) "you win some, you lose some." Everyone will always have their favorites and least favorites when it comes to Pokemon design. Remember, there are over 800 Pokemon, so of course there are going to be a couple where you really think they missed the mark. It's all a part of design.
My second least favorite Pokemon, I would have to say, is Diggersby. A part of me finds it funny that they are playing against the whole "Lopunny is sexy" meme thing, but this Pokemon is just UGLY. I get that it was the purpose, but as my little sister would say "it looks like a pervert rabbit." It honestly does. Maybe this is just Game Freak poking fun of its fans that took Lopunny to the extreme? I really hope that that is the case. I just really dislike that Bunnelby is a really cute bunny Pokemon, but then it turns into a monster. I have yet to see a rabbit Pokemon I like at all, and seeing Bunnelby at first made me excited. Well, I looked up what it evolved into and - NOPE - not using that Ground type!
I look at this list of Pokemon and just find myself thinking "ew ew ew ew." Again, there are always Pokemon we will dislike as there are 800 designs (and even more to come)! Stunfisk is one of those Pokemon that make me disgusted. From its summoned battle cry to its design, I really dislike this ground fish Pokemon. I've never been a fan of flounder fish either, as I find them creepy looking - but Stunfisk takes the cake. The rotten, smelly cake that was left in a container for way too long and you forgot about it because you made cookies that lasted you two weeks. Stunfisk also doesn't evolve, so if you obtained that Pokemon in a Nuzlocke challenge for example, you were stuck with it forever. I remember the area you saw it in in Pokemon Black/White, it was very common to run into too. So that ugly sound effect would pop up every where you went there.
I will call it a night as I had a later stream tonight. I saw that twitch is running a Pokemon Anime Season 1 marathon, so I wanted to get back to writing about Pokemon. Why not continue my ongoing post and rant about the Pokemon I'm not too fond of? Hope to continue with this or another topic tomorrow!
