Part 2 - She has Two Cats Named Jasmine and Belle!
I can't look at this picture and not smile. My heart fills up to the brim when looking at my sweet girls! Okay, this picture above isn't the best picture I have (and trust me, as a cat lady I have PLENTY), but it is the most recent one on my phone gallery. On the left is Belle, my family calls her Boo Boo, and on the right is Jasmine. We adopted them when they were only 6 months old on a windy day in August, 9 years ago. I thought, as it just became August, what better time to introduce them to you all!
This post may also turn into a "GET A CAT (or pet)" rant, but I do think that holding a fuzzy, living, breathing creature can help you deal with your emotions. Taking care of something helps you grow as a person. Looking into their hungry (always hungry) eyes makes you feel wanted, needed. It is a great feeling to be with a cat, my cats, and no amount of typing can every express that feeling. You just have to experience it!
My cats live with my dad and sister now, so I don't get to see them as much as I used to, which makes me very sad. They are getting older, but as mutt indoor cats, they still have many years left ahead of them. They've been through two big moves from house to apartment to another apartment. They've seen my family scream, cry and rejoice.
They both have opposite personalities, which isn't uncommon for two cats living together in the experiences I've known. Boo Boo is very shy, but when she wants to snuggle, she is the sweetest thing you could ever imagine. Jasmine never snuggles, but still likes pets, but her favorite is getting attention from new people who walk through the front door. They are picky eaters too - the only brand of cat food they like is the wet (and more expensive, of course) Fancy Feast, but no seafood. They on occasion like scraps, and for some reason love to eat the pepperonis off of leftover pizze and Tollhouse Crackers from their opened wrapper.
Boo Boo and Jasmine wear jingle collars so you can always hear them coming. Wearing bells, however, makes them poor hunters, as they have only ever caught one mouse in their whole lives. They have grey fur, but white underbellies, with stripes on top and spots on bottom. They have little "M"s on their foreheads. They also have dark "eyeliner" around their big green eyes. BooBoo's fur is a lot softer than Jasmine's, as we always figured she bathed more (but that's all genetics, duh).
I could go on and on about my girls, but instead I will stop here. One day I will have to tell you every story about them. How they make my family laugh and how they make us so happy. GO GET A CAT (or pet). JUST - GO DO IT.
Love,
glimmer
