Something You Don't Know About glimmer
Part 5 - She gets migraines!
I'll start this post off by thanking my dad for his wonderful genetics - giving me the world's worst headaches. If you don't know what a migraine is...Google it (nah, I kid! I can tell you better than that stinky thing we call the Internet)! A migraine is, as I implied, a really bad headache that is different in severity for everyone who may get one. Everyone who has migraines, however, shares a few common traits - they may have a specific trigger that causes it, there are different, but highly effective cures for each patient, and each person has their own unique symptoms right before the disaster strikes. I'll go over my steps:
1. I get migraines mostly when I'm super stressed and have a lot on my mind. I mostly got them in school and when I was searching for an important job while working full-time somewhere else.
2. I see spots. Have you ever closed your eyes after staring at a light for too long (why were you doing that you silly child)? That's kind of what it looks like!
3. I get a slight headache in the middle of my forehead. It's a super weird spot, but apparently migraines are frequent to start here.
4. I get dizzy and when I focus on one spot, the rest of the world around me looks blurry. This is always my main indicator that makes me 80-100% sure I'm about to get a migraine.
5. I keep my medicine by my bed, in my purse, and in my car. I have to take two of these little white pills. One I take right when the migraine is about to hit, and one when it does hit. Trust me, you can tell when these places occur in your head. If I didn't have this medicine...I would be making lots of hospital trips.
My most recent hospital visit was because I took my medicine too late. Or, was it that it didn't quite work well enough for me? I don't really remember. But, migraines are very, very bad. At least for me. Luckily, I haven't had one in a long while (am I staying more positive? Happier? Less stressed? It's definitely not 'I'm keeping away from bright lights' because I play video games almost 'round the clock). I had a friend in high school that had to get an operation on her last year because her migraines were SO bad. I hope mine never haunt me like that.
If you think you may be suffering from migraines, even just an occasional one, go see your doctor. Trust me, having the medicine (or whatever cure you may find) helps out SO much. SO SO much. I can't imagine not having my meds now. Also, as I mentioned in my first sentence of this post, migraines are genetic. So, if your family line doesn't have them - lucky you! Have fun with your red freckles and your slow-growing fingernails though (I kid...and if that's all that's wrong with you then give yourself a pat on the back...if your genetics allow you to reach all the way behind you)!
Love,
glimmer
