Today's Discussion is on..Nose Bleeds!
Don't worry - I have no pictures to post!
Time for a typical glimmer rant! I took my evening shower as I always do (I'm on a nice schedule: wake up > go to work > eat breakfast > work some more > eat lunch > work some more > go home > work out > eat dinner > stream/write/play games > have a little snack > shower > sleep). Suddenly, out of the blue (more like out of my nose har har), my nose started bleeding! If you've had nose bleeds before, you can always tell right before you get one - you smell blood, you may even taste it and you just know. The worst part about nose bleeds is that three seconds you take figuring out which nostril it is - even though it should be easy it's a 50% chance you will plug your right one. In the shower, it is way worse to figure it out because your sense of smell is off with the steam and the water gets on your hands...it's just a mess (or no it's not 'cause you are being cleaned by the hot water).
I guess there is some good about the shower bleeds (okay, that just sounds wrong). The blood goes straight down the drain and if it gets on your body - you can just rinse it right back off! Have you ever been in a public place and gotten a nose bleed? Those are the WORST. You have to awkwardly excuse yourself while stuffing your face into your sleeve - then make sure to toss that sweatshirt later because you won't ever get the stain out - of your memory. I don't get a lot of nose bleeds, but around winter and whenever there are dramatic temperature changes (I blame the air cooling system not working properly right now), my nose decides to let her rip.
I only had one really, really bad one once in community college with my best friend. It started while we were talking in her car (yes, HER car) and she handed me the box of tissues and continued talking like I wasn't a human faucet. We talked and talked until she pointed out my nose was still going at it. Then, when I removed the tissue I was currently using (many more by this point had already been discarded in her trash can), a huge gunk of red was on it that was unlike anything I had ever seen my nose do. Even on those gross snotty sick days. She immediately wanted to take me to the hospital, as she thought there was some rule for how long your nose could be for. We didn't end up going, because I think it stopped soon after her warning, like my body knew the hospital was a no-no for me, and we continued on our way home. Luckily that time it was after class, but I've had plenty in class too. That story, however, always sticks in my mind as my nose has never bled like that ever again.
Too be fair, nose bleeds are the most blood that as ever come out of me, as I am a safe and nervous girl - never doing anything so radical to get me harmed. I've gotten plenty of bruises (especially those ones when you wake up, there must be someone or something that goes around and gives those at random), plenty of scrapes; I've bashed my toe so hard I thought I broke it and my toenail came off. I' thought I broke my tailbone once on a wooden roller coaster ride (I never ride those anymore). Probably the most I bleed now is from cat scratches!
Take care of yourself - don't do anything too crazy that would make you hurt yourself. If it will make a cool story though...(I'm a bad influence)!
Love,
glimmer
